A neighbor called especially to tell us that our teenage son had said a beautiful devar Torah in shul. Parents of teens need encouragement!
As a young mother, I was walking to shul with my children towards the end of the davening to meet my husband. We saw a teenage boy hurrying past. He looked downcast. I realized that he was quite late for minyan and his parents were probably angry. To make matters worse, my children stared and asked who the boy was. I replied in a proud voice, "That's a young man on his way to shul." A small smile appeared on the teen's face. He walked taller and with more purpose.
